Thin Sections
Roll Overs: 1 2 3 4 5 6 7
Thin section between crossed polarizers. Martian (shergottite) TKW 812 grams. Fall not observed. Two stones (414 and 383 g) were found in the Atlas mountains (Morocco) in 2001 January and March. Don't miss the high-resolution pictures on Krpano here and here. Solar writes:The two thin sections presented here are stunningly beautiful and were a real joy to photograph. I hope viewers find them visually stimulating. Many of the darkened olivine grains look remarkably similar to those in NWA 2737; both were formed from high pressure shocks related to the ejecting event. The first series (photos 1 - 3) was taken with 4x/0.25 objective while the second series (4-7) was taken with 10x/0.25 objective. Check out more at my web site.
